March can be Spring Home Checklist Month!! Here are some topics below to consider while cleaning out that closet this month :)
Review Your Policy: Take the time to go through your home insurance policy and understand what it covers. Familiarize yourself with the limits, deductibles, and any exclusions.
Assess Winter Damage: Check for any damage caused by winter weather, such as roof leaks, cracks in the foundation, or damage from ice dams. Document the damage and contact your agent if necessary.
Update Home Inventory: Review and update your home inventory, making note of any new valuable items or changes in the value of existing ones. This will help ensure that you have sufficient coverage in case of theft, damage, or loss.
Reevaluate Coverage Limits: Consider whether your current coverage limits are adequate for your needs. Evaluate the value of your home and possessions to determine if adjustments need to be made.
Assess Liability Coverage: Liability coverage protects you if someone is injured on your property. Review your liability coverage and ensure that it is sufficient for potential risks, such as hosting gatherings or having a pool.
Check Deductibles: Review your policy's deductibles, which are the out-of-pocket expenses you'll need to pay before your insurance coverage kicks in. Consider if you are comfortable with the deductible amount and make adjustments if necessary.
Evaluate Additional Coverage: Determine if you need additional coverage for specific risks, such as flood, jewelry or electronics insurance. Consult with your insurance provider to explore your options.
Secure Outdoor Areas: As spring arrives, ensure that outdoor areas like gardens, sheds, and swimming pools are adequately protected. Check if any additional coverage is needed for these areas.
Review Discounts: Inquire about any new discounts that your insurance provider may offer. You might be eligible for savings if you have made home improvements or have security systems in place.
Update Contact Information: Make sure your insurance provider has your most up-to-date contact information so they can reach you easily in case of a claim or policy update.
I am a native of Troy, AL. I graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 1998 and attended Auburn University. I graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, emphasis in Landscape Design.
After graduation, I went to work for a major landscape design firm in Atlanta, GA. Married my wife Amy and settled in to the hectic, major metro life. We lived and worked there for a little over two years and then an opportunity opened up to move back to Troy, AL. Back home I had an opportunity to open up a couple of small businesses over the next handful of years. Building something from the ground up and being able to watch it grow and thrive is a thrill I wish everybody had the opportunity to experience. After 10+ years in the retail world it was time to move on. I went to work for a financial advisory firm in 2016 which allowed me to continue to support the Troy community. That opened the door to the greatest small business opportunity in America.
It was a bit of a winding road, but I finally opened my own agency June 1, 2020 right here in Troy, AL.
At the Bryant Smith agency, you are a person, not just a number. My team and I want to make sure we do everything we can to help you get the right insurance plan for your family and the most bang for your insurance buck. We focus on educating our customers on options and solving problems rather than simply selling policies. You are important to us!
